There are countless great restaurants in our wonderful city, which often makes it hard to pinpoint favorites among them. I may be a little late to the game, but Jean-Georges' ABC Kitchen easily separates itself from the pack. This is my type of restaurant! Everything about it, from the ridiculously fresh fare to the specially crafted serving vessels, thoughtful cooking philosophy and charmingly plaid-clad servers, speak to me. The aesthetic is very clean modern barn. ;)
I recently had the delight of having lunch there with my dear cousin Rosie and her adorable son, Oscar. We enjoyed every last bite (we may or may not have stolen Oscy's portion of the generously topped mushroom pizza, so evil!), down to the last bit of magical salted caramel sundae - and yes, that's caramel popcorn that you're seeing! All their food is casual, but highly professional.
Chef Dan Kluger deserves every laudatory comment thrown his way, especially the latest crowning of Best New Chef: New York by Food & Wine, a feat in itself! Pastry chef Melody Lee is extraordinary at her craft and her finesse is evident the moment you lay eyes on her creations.
Can you tell this place excites me? ;) Go if you've never been before and go back (with me) if it's been a while since your last visit!
