Part two of our dessert-making party takes us to the molten chocolate cake, or moelleux au chocolat, as we were told by Kate (sounds a lot better in French, non?). I took my role of chopping very seriously, if you couldn't tell. ;)
Molten cake will always be a favorite of mine, no matter how many restaurants decide to add it to their menus. I prefer the lava-like cake a la mode rather than with whipped cream, so I struck veritable gold when we decided to pair it with some salted caramel ice cream (not the batch we just made, but a pre-prepared one).
(That's all you heard once we started eating. That is to say, nothing.)
Seriously, there isn't much that needs to be said when dark Valrhona chocolate's involved. Is there anything more sublime? Despite having just wolfed down a Bedouin Tent falafel sandwich (amazingly chewy handmade pitas!) just minutes before, we all pushed our stomachs to the limits to take this in. Try this Kitchy Kitchen recipe (Claire is adorable) - if the video alone isn't enough to send you running, I'm not sure what will.
So when's our next date, ladies? ;)
